Patients on extractions, replacements and nerves
A gap is more than a gap
When a tooth goes, chewing gets harder, eating well gets harder, and a gap near the front can make you hide your smile. Less visible is what happens under the gum: the jaw bone that held the root starts to shrink. That weakens support for the neighboring teeth and can set off gum problems and more tooth loss.
Dentures and bridges can fill the space. An implant goes one step further, because the post sits where the root used to be and the bone heals around it. After that you brush and floss it like any other tooth and eat what you like. We will tell you honestly whether an implant fits your mouth, and we will not sell you a procedure you do not need.

From the extraction to the final crown
Each step of replacing a tooth, including the bone and gum work some implants need first, handled by one team in one Santa Clarita office.

Santa Clarita dental implant questions
What patients ask before they replace a tooth.
For most single and multiple tooth replacements, the implant is placed under local anesthesia and is typically a comfortable experience. You may feel some vibration while the post goes in. Numbing and sedation options are available for anxious patients.
A temporary tooth is attached when the post is placed. After about two to four months, once the post has fused with the bone, the permanent crown goes on. Some patients need an extraction or bone work first, which adds time.
All three replace the visible tooth. Only an implant replaces the root, which helps prevent the jaw bone loss that follows a missing tooth. You also clean it with ordinary brushing and flossing. We will compare the options honestly at your consultation.
Bone grafts are among the treatments the practice offers, and the team includes periodontist Dr. Dennis Hunt, a published researcher in alveolar bone reconstruction. Your exam and X-rays show whether a graft is needed first.
Often the discomfort is part of normal healing. Call anyway: we can check that there is no infection around the implant and that nothing needs adjusting.
We accept most major dental insurance plans, offer a complimentary insurance benefits analysis, and have interest-free financing for up to 12 months. Fees are submitted to and approved by Delta Dental.
